This is what you might call the worst flirting face anyone's ever made. OHHHHH Clutch... you never will learn, will you? SUCH a derp. Comes naturally to him, sadly.
Nice! Although it does have quite a desaturated look to it. That might be your chosen art-style though so 'tis all good. I have one trick I do with the colors. You know every color is a mix of two other colors. Usually a cool color and a warm color. Green, for example is a mix of yellow and blue. I tend to make the color of my shadows lean more towards the cool color and the light's color lean more towards the warm color. With green that would mean making the shadows more blue and the lights more yellow. This, I feel, gives the coloring a lot more life and makes it more interesting, makes it pop out. Try it sometime. Might be just the thing for you
Ah, yeah, I can see how that could be interesting. Actually, the idea in itself knda makes me wanna try a pic that goes to the full extreme color... like a green thing with pure yellow highlights and cobalt shadows... BUT, I will definitely try what you said! I usually use more and more desaturated colors as I get lighter, with my shadows being fully saturated but never going full white or gray for the highlights.
Yeah, that could be interesting. I usually do have a bit of full-on yellows or full-on blues but in very small amounts only for the darkest and lightest bits. I just think doing this technique makes your pic seem more "alive" and makes it pop in general. Definitely try it, it might just be the thing you need to make your art even better than it already is I understand the desaturated look for highlights and saturated shadows and that is what generally happens IRL, but Sonic is a cartoon character and I feel saturated colors suit it better as desaturated colors make it seem a little washed-out IMO. But it's all up to personal preference in the end. Try it, you might think it's a better look that you have now Not forcing my ways onto you, just trying to provide some constructive criticism and trying to help you improve, that's all
No no, I understand! I don't feel like you're forcing anything. I'm definitely gonna try it out on the next piece I start (once my new tablet pen comes in the mail...)
Alright. I use a pretty cheap Kanvus tablet. It didn't cost TOO much but it does what I want it to without issue. And at the end of the day it's not the price that matters, it's the functionality
Nice work here!
