OH my goodness, I ENTERED A CONTEST!!!

Here's the original [link] by :iconsegamew:

Well, OK, I had an ulterior motive... and a LOT of time to work on it recently...

To be honest, I needed to practice coloring and was looking for good lines to do so with. This one was good lines, and had a contest too! So I thought BONUS! I'll get my practice, AND MAYBE WIN A PRIZE! Worth it.

SO here it is!

I also have to have a little written portion, so here it is.

How has Sonic colored my life?

Heh. A few of those who know me know that this statement very nearly defines my entire personality...

I first found Sonic when I was 6 years old. At this point, Sonic was new, only the first game existed, and it came with the Genesis. I got hooked instantly, and I played it over and over. As a couple of years passed, I got more and more into it as I grew enough to understand what I was really doing. After a while, I got so obsessed that my mom took the Genesis away from me for a pretty extended time (a couple of months). When I got it back, I went RIGHT back into it, like it hadn't even left. I wasn't really doing anything else with my time, going outside, eating lunch, doing homework, sleeping, and such. It wasn't long before I lost it again, this time "till I was old enough to deal with it". Which ended up being almost 2 years.
Not to be thwarted, it was at this time that I discovered the Archie Sonic comic. I had found a new way to support my habit! And it didn't include vegging in front of a tv, so mom was ok with it. But little did she know my obsession was still growing, and more than a little bit taking over my priorities.

This is when I started to be capable at drawing. Around 8 or 9 years old. I wasn't terrible, but I was still only 9 after all. I learned how to draw by copying the (at the time incredible) art in the comics. I still have those early issues... they really were so great...
I still like it, but now the beautiful art comes for short bursts and then disappears again. Sigh...
ANYway, I did get my Genesis back, and immediately slipped back into old habits, somewhat lethargically. I had it for about 7 or 8 months, aaaaand.... lost it again. Yes, that's right, I was SO visibly obsessed, that it went away for SEVERAL years this time. We moved to a new house, and it just... never got unpacked. Then I came across it, and thought 'Dude, THAT'S where that's been!!'

And I hooked it up. That was when I was about 16. It all started spiraling again... but at that point I'd learned to hide it at least a little bit! So, yeah, when someone says "I have an unhealthy obsession with Sonic", I KNOW I got em beat.

I've now got a Wii because it can play literally any Sonic game except for some very exclusive exclusives, (Stupid Sonic Generations... I WILL find a way, mark my WORDS. *EDIT Thank you Steam*) and am still very much unable to stop the growing obsession, even though I'm now 23 years old. Sonic the character and the game both have MADE me who I am. He's not just part of my life, he's so integrated into my personality that I often say things simply cuz I know that's what he'd say, or I'll keep from saying things because of the face that I know he'd make were he to hear it.
He's so very much IN me, in my head and heart (CORNY...), and I'd say that "I'll never be the same because of Sonic", but the truth of the matter is, I'm only myself because of him. I mean, I was 6 for cryin out loud! He's shaped me since before I even really HAD a personality!
